A week back, Iomega launched its latest version of the ScreenPlay media player, the ScreenPlay TV Link MX HD media player. This will be available shortly for a retail price of Rs. 4,499 and is backed up by a three-year warranty.
The Link MX supports a maximum resolution of 1080p (60Hz) and supports all popular formats like H.264, WMV, RMVB, etc. The single USB 2.0 port in the front accepts FAT 32 and NTFS formatted hard drives among other formats. For connectivity, the player has HDMI 1.3 as well as Composite ports. On the digital audio front there is a Coaxial audio out instead of the typical S/PDIF connections that we are used to seeing. Here's a quick look at the various video, audio and photo formats it supports.
Video - H.264, WMV, RMVB, MPEG-1/2/4(part 2, ASP), DivX, DivX Plus HD (MKV), Xvid ; File types: .avi, .asf,.iso,.vob, .ifo, .mp4, .mov, WMV, FLV, .mkv, AVCHD, M2TS ; Subtitle: SRT, SSA, SUB, SMI, MKS, TXT
Photo: JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PNG
Audio formats: MP3, AC3, WAV, WMA, OGG, AAC, PCM, M4A ; Playlist: PLS, M3U, WPL
At this price point, it competes directly with the Asus O!Play Mini, which shares similar features but is priced lower.
