Indian IT services firm MindTree is getting ready to launch its own smartphone in U.S. by the second half of this fiscal year, according to a report by Reuters.
The phones will use Google's Android platform and will support 3G networks as well. The company is already in talks with a major U.S. network for the upcoming launch. MindTree also plans to bring the handsets to Latin America, Europe and Canada. Strangely, Asia (and more specifically, India) doesn't seem to be in the list.
The company expects to price one of its upcoming handsets at around the $300 mark. It is good to see an Indian company going international and launching its products in other countries. However, we would love to see some of your handsets in India. MindTree, are you listening?
