Asus Laptops to have Intel CPUs Inside
Asus is expected to launch two ultra-thin laptops with Intel's upcoming 45nm CPUs inside on Sept. 7. The new Asus ultra-thin laptop models are expected to ship in China, Europe and Taiwan reported DigiTimes.
Intel's two microprocessors - Intel Celeron 743 and Intel SU2300 processors, are priced at $107 (Rs. 5,150 approx.) and $134 (Rs. 6,450 approx.) respectively, in thousand-unit tray quantities.
These new Intel microprocessors are targeted at entry level market. Asustek president Jerry Shen had noted that ultra-thin laptops will constitute 10-20 percent of Asus' total laptop shipment in the third quarter of 2009.
Asus' close competitors MSI and Acer are also planning to launch its new ultra-thin notebooks soon after Asus does. Probably, MSI would bring more X-Slim ultra-thin laptop models.
The ultra-thin notebooks will so become the new segment between the netbooks and entry level but thick-heavy laptops.
