Acer Aspire D260 loaded with Tata Photon Unveiled

Acer Aspire D260 loaded with Tata Photon UnveiledAcer and Tata Teleservices have partnered to introduce new Aspire One D260 netbook with Tata Photon Plus Module embedded on it. That means all you have to do is get it activated from a Tata Teleservices outlet and use the Photo+ app to get speeds of up to 3.1Mbps. There is no need to connect any USB modem to go online. Apsire One D260 is priced at Rs 17,999 (exclusive of taxes) and would be made available in Delhi and Mumbai in the initial launch phase. If you've friends or relatives there, you can certainly get one from there.

We've seen netbooks with 3G SIM module slots on them. Now the Acer Aspire One D260 comes with embedded 'broadband' module for wirelessly connectivity while you're on the go. Aspire One D260 sports a 10.1-inch screen with LED back-lit and 16:9 aspect ratio. Inside the chassis, it houses Intel Atom N450 microprocessor with 1 GB DDR2 RAM and 160 GB HDD 5400 RPM for storage. This is decent enough for standard netbook configuration in terms of core internal hardware.

Aspire One D260 will run Windows 7 Starter edition and will have a 1.3 megapixel camera for you to video chat. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, three USB ports and six-cell battery that promises eight hours of battery life.

In this initial phase of launch (means till end of this year, may be), Acer Aspire One D260 would be made available from retail junctions of Tata Teleservices in Mumbai and Delhi only.

When this Acer Aspire One D260 with Embedded Photo Plus is made available across India, users need to check if Tata Photo Plus services are available for their city/town or not. Else, it would be just another netbook with unusable embedded modem on it.
