THQ's hotly anticipated shooter Homefront has just been confirmed for March next year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game will be released on March 8 for North America, March 10 in Australia and finally in Europe on March 11, 2011. The game follows an alternate history, which sees the economic downfall of U.S. and the rise of North Korea as a superpower, culminating with North Korea invading U.S. in the year 2027.
The speculative fiction genre of alternate history shooters has always been appealing due to its rich and interesting storyline that is much close to the current political themes, totally blurring the lines between reality and fiction. Games like Freedom Fighters, Singularity and Turning Point are prime examples of powerful and engaging narrative the genre can conjure. Let's hope Homefront doesn't disappoint players by bungling up the rest of the plot, like Turning Point unfortunately did.
