Apple's Store Better than Nokia Ovi: Survey

Apple's Store Better than Nokia Ovi: SurveyA new survey has revealed that an astounding 84 percent of developers on Nokia's Ovi app store, who also publish apps for other platforms think that Apple's store is better, while 40 percent state the same for Android store. This survey was carried out by research firm Open First, which asked 104 Nokia developers for free and paid apps, about their choice of app store which they like.

If that may sound gloomy, we would like to clear that all is not really lost for Ovi store as 63 percent of top Nokia developers still affirm their faith in Nokia's app store. Of all, around 50 percent are completely satisfied with Ovi store, while 69 percent say that the revenues are lower because of not enough promotion being done by Nokia and the difficulty in finding apps in the store. Still, 70 percent intend to continue to publish for this store. It must be noted that around 66 percent Nokia developers post apps on Apple app store, while 60 percent post on Android market.

Developers feel that the quality approval process for Ovi store is very slow and inconsistent and Nokia must work hard on improving in this area. We must note here that even Apple's developers were not always happy with their approval process according to a previous survey. Nokia must also work on communicating better with developers, because it was found that many of them didn't know that Nokia did offer end-user support for Ovi issues. If Nokia does take heed and work out on such issues, we will probably see a stronger competing Ovi store.
