redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 2 Released for iPhone, iPad

redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 2 Released for iPhone, iPadApple iOS hacking enthusiast - iPhone Dev Team has released new redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 2 for jailbreaking the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. This new redsn0w tool works for most iOS 4.2 betas seeded to developers in a partial mode i.e. not all components are supported. As of now, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (second, third and fourth generation) and iPad - all these devices can be jailbroken with new redsn0w tool.

The iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd had announced the release of redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 2 on Twitter for Mac and Windows platform. This tool will let users jailbreak their iOS devices. In the new redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 2 dubbed as Halloween redsn0w, the iPhone Dev Team has incorporated the Limera1n exploit discovered by George Hotz aka Geohot. Of course there's 24kpwn exploit that was used in redsn0w 0.9.6 beta as well.

Redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 2 has a special pwned DFU mode with Limera1n integration that puts iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS into immediate DFU mode. Then the users can restore either of the devices with custom IPSW firmware file created using PwnageTool 4.1.2 meant for Mac OS X. Apart from that, the iPhone 3GS owners with older bootroms can now use custom boot logos.

The following devices running iOS 4.1 and select running iOS 4.2 beta are supported in new redsn0w:
-iPhone 4
-iPhone 3GS
-iPod touch (second, third and fourth generation
-iPad

When Apple will release iOS 4.2 update officially, the iPhone Dev Team will verify their tools and release them after twos. That means both jailbreak and software unlock (ultrasn0w) for iOS 4.2 would be available in 48 hours after the official release of the firmware.
