General Mobiles' Second Android Phone

It's literally raining Androids! Just as we are about to witness the (possible) launch of the Google Nexus later today, General Mobile, a little known manufacturer, has readied its very own Android based phone for sale.

The Cosmos, as the device will eventually be known as, will run Android 2.0 (Eclair) and will be a feature packed device offering almost all the goodies that will include a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus. The screen would be a 3.2-inch capacitive one with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. General Mobiles also seems to have a 3D interface of its own, which would be interesting to watch at work.

On the connectivity front, the phone will support Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g as well as EDGE and HSDPA. Theprocessor is a Marvell PXA935 (Tavor P65) which is supported by 256MB NAND, 128MB DDR memories. External MicroSD cards of up to 16GB are supported. GM also has its own Android App Store known as the Storeoid (cool name!) built in inside the phone. The phone is quite a looker and does look well built. Oh, and like the HTC Hero, there is thattrackball for navigation. The phone also offers FM Connectivity for users on the move.

In all, apart from a few quirks with respect to the hardware, this phone should actually make a good Android phone - if it is priced appropriately!
