Samsung has announced two new portable media players - IceTouch and MyFit. Apple's iPod and iPod Touch shook the portable media players market and now, manufacturers thrive to stand out. The new Samsung IceTouch (YP-H1) has two-inch AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) touchscreen display which is glass-like transparent. While MyFit (YP-W1) offers 8GB storage with integrated sensors for fat level and stress level detection. Samsung will make these PMPs available in the first half of this year.
Samsung IceTouch (YP-H1) has full-color transparent AMOLED touchscreen, boasts high-performance CPU and Samsung's "TouchWiz Sweep" interface. IceTouch features 5.1-channel surround sound and supports several popular audio formats including MP3HD and Apple's M4A format. The video formats supported are MPEG4, WMV, H.264, XviD and DivX files. Made from tempered glass, the IceTouch has smooth, scratch proof surface. Samsung offers IceTouch in white color with 16GB storage and also offers color skins in pink, purple, gray and blue.
Targeting fitness enthusiasts, the new Samsung MyFit player has 8GB storage and will offer wellness management tools that will help body fat levels and stress through sensors. A built-in accelerometer tracks calories that users have lost by physical activities. Also, a playlist, according to the different exercise modes (like Jogging), is offered.
MyFit player also features FM Radio tuner and Samsung's DNSe 3.0 sound enhancement technology which claims to bring more realistic stereo sound. The audio file formats supported include MP3, WMA, OGG, AAC and high quality compressed as well as lossless formats. Video formats support include WMV and MPEG4.
