GDC 2010: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 due on June 8

At the on-going Game Developers Conference 2010 at San Francisco, Electronic Arts Sports has announced new Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 golf game that will feature one of the most prestigious golf tournaments - The Ryder Cup. The all new Tiger Woods golf game is set to arrive for Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3 and iPhone platforms on June 8. For PlayStation 3, this game will support the upcoming PS3 Motion Controller while for Wii, it will support the MotionPlus technology.

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 will allow players to choose between the U.S. squad led by Tiger Woods and the European squad by Rory Illroy. Four-players can play alternative shots, fourballs and singles can be hit in the Ryder Cup mode. This game would be the first installment in the series to allow up to 24 players to compete head-to-head as members of a team. Also, these team members can chat with each other to devise the game strategy on the Xbox LIVE or PlayStation Network.

The soon-to-be-launched PS3 Motion Controller (PlayStation Arc) will give the gamers an "authentic interactive swing experience" while the Wii will offer two-enhanced swing mechanics when used with MotionPlus. The Advanced Plus swing difficulty will read the rotation of the Wiimote and the gamer's swing angle. The Tour Pro swing mechanic assesses Wiimote rotation, swing plane and point of contact.

EA said that the game won't support Project Natal on Xbox 360 since the game release is before Natal's launch. We'll have to look forward to the next Tiger Woods golf title to enjoy the Natal support.
