Ubisoft's RTS Game R.U.S.E. due on June 8

Ubisoft's much awaited real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. will finally arrive on June 8, reports Big Download. Developed by Eugen Systems, this action-based World War II-centric real-time strategy game will be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Public Beta of this game is already available from Steam, a games download service from Valve.

R.U.S.E. was announced last year at the Game Developers Conference. R.U.S.E, which comes with a multi-player option, is a real-time war strategy game purely based on deception. Gamers get to choose their armies between six nations of WWII -U.S., UK, Germany, USSR, France and Italy.

1V1V1: "Tripartite"
3V3: "Center of Gravity"

The game has been optimized to work with the latest Intel Core i7 processor so those with highest-end processor, motherboard and graphics card combo will surely have a gala time. By choosing Steam, it looks like Ubisoft took a safe route on the Digital Rights Management for the games. Earlier this week, many Assassin's Creed 2 owners faced difficulty in using their game copies with the new DRM included with the game. The new Ubisoft DRM allowed users to install the game in more than one PC several times. No disc was required to play game and the saved games reside on Ubisoft servers. So, those who have installed games and wanted to continue couldn't playing since Ubisoft servers were down and non-responsive. Apparently, Ubisoft, in aninterview last month, stated that it may release a patch that will allow playing the game offline but in the single-player mode. So that means if a patch can be used to play the game offline then there won't be any continuous authentication nagging.

Apparently, these gamers faced issues with the draconian Launcher file which acts as a DRM face between the Ubisoft cloud services and the gamer's PC. So, it looks like Ubisoft has take a rescue with Steam's DRM and hence released the R.U.S.E. public beta through it. Now, we've to see if future games from Ubisoft carry their own DRM or get released through Steam.
