iPhone 3G Goes Off Apple Store. Almost

With just a few days left for Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference, the tech world is patiently awaiting the announcement of the iPhone 4G - the existence of which has not been confirmed by Apple.

It has been a tradition at Apple to launch new iterations of its iPhone at the famed WWDC. It also is pertinent to note that the launch of a new version usually rings the death knell for older versions of the device.

While it is possible that the 3GS may be sold along with the 4G, it is highly unlikely that Apple will sell three generations of the iPhone together. In what might be the first signs of Apple slowly pulling the iPhone 3G off the shelves, the "select" button for buying the iPhone 3G from the Apple Store suddenly went missing yesterday, and has since then shown no signs of coming back.

Is this just a technical glitch or should we read more into it? Or is it that the 3G is just out of stock? But then Apple can simply state so instead of removing the "select" button.
