All you N900 users out there rejoice! Nokia has announced a new software update for Nokia's Maemo based Internet tablet.
The new update will first be available in the UK and eventually reach N900 users in other parts of the globel. The update, Version 1.2 (V10.2010.19-1), comes with a range of enhancements to the phone.
To begin with, the phone now gets new games apart from the ones already available via the Ovi Store. These include Jurassic 3D Rollercoaster, Zen-bound, Angry Birds (level pack), Sygic, Kroll, Weatherbug, and GoGadget. Nokia has said that they have also made improvements to communication as well.
Email has been improved with the ability to accept or decline an event invitation right within your inbox. The phone now also supports Facebook IM. This release brings with it video calling, a much sought after feature. Other improvements include support for portrait browsing on the internet. Even Ovi Maps has been updated with a new UI and features. Nokia has also changed the N900 menu structure with the first level now being made fully customisable.
Along with this update, Nokia has also clarified its stand regarding the future of the N900 with the upcoming MeeGo OS. They say that while the N900 has been used to test MeeGo for research and development purposes, the company doesn't have any plans to bring MeeGo to the N900.
