Samsung is pushing its own open mobile platform along with Google's Android OS. The bada OS SDK 1.0.0b2 has an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) based on Eclipse CDT (C/C++ Development Tools), Simulator, UI builder and sample applications. The new UI framework in the SDK also supports Samsung TouchWiz UI.
Apart from that, control for Adobe Flash, web browser control, motion sensing, fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection can be found in the SDK. The bada OS also bring support for service-centric features such as social networks, location -based services, content management, and e-commerce services.
Samsung bada OS SDK beta can be downloaded from here only after getting a free developer account registered.
Check out the system requirements before installing the SDK:
- Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system
- At least 1.4 GB of RAM memory
- At least 1.8 GB of free disk space
- Local administrator rights
- The bada Simulator screen size is 480 x 800. If the screen resolution of your computer monitor is under 800, the Simulator does not show normally for applications that use OpenGL.
Samsung Wave will be the first DivX HD certified phone besides being one of the initial Samsung bada OS based devices. We'll soon get to see how good bada OS is to handle HD video besides several other features.
