If you happen to be a hardcore iPhone user, you might for sure have come across the Camera+ application. If you were thinking of downloading it later from the App Store, sorry to disappoint you, it's no longer available there.
Apple has apparently taken the app offline because of the addition of a new feature in the latest version of the application that allows users to use the volume button on the side of the iPhone to be used as a camera shutter button. The contraband feature, which is not available in its normal iteration, required users to visit a pagecamplus://enablevolumesnap using Mobile Safari to enable the functionality. It was in a tweet one week after the release of the new version that the developers of the applications made the availability of the feature public. Apple did not lose much time soon after to remove the app off the app store.
The interesting thing about this is that Camera+ was one of the more popular apps available from the App Sore and its developers are a respected lot. Now, according to Apple's terms, developers who try to circumvent Apple's policies are liable to face a one year ban from submitting their apps to the store. Do you think Apple will ban the developers in question?
If you have the application installed, the latest version with the hidden feature would still work.
