After first iPad jailbreak developer Comex's jailbreakme.com website for jailbreak was launched, security researchers pointed out security holes in devices post jailbreak. The devices were vulnerable to any maliciously crafted PDF when viewed from mobile Safari web browser. However, jailbreak community pioneer Freeman worked out a patch which will be released after testing for first-gen iPhone and iPod touch.
Now we don't know how many iPhone owners would be disgruntled with Apple's surprising move to keep first generation iPhone and iPod touch devoid of security fixes. Was that an indirect indication that those devices won't be supported? We don't know it clearly. However, the jailbreak community has taken a commendable step to come out with a fix that will patch the holes for all the devices.
Look out for Cydia update (for jailbroken devices) in a couple of hours after Saurik releases the fix.
