You Might Fail to Jailbreak New iPhone

Internet is buzzing with news about the new batch of iPhone 3GS models that will cause concerns to many who are into jailbreaking and unlocking them. A fresh batch of iPhone 3GS devices is being shipped with new Bootrom that looks non-exploitable for jailbreak. Buzz about this came from a tweet from Matheiu Hervais, a PS3 and PSP hacker, who pointed image proof of new Boot Rom to iPhone Dev team, Geohot (George Hotz) and Chronic Dev team.

Apple has been playing the cat and mouse game with iPhone hackers since the first iPhone was launched. But now, Apple s iPhone Software development
team has pulled up its socks. The new Boot Rom (iBoot-359.3.2) bearing iPhone 3GS was spotted by Mathieulh and is presumed to have shipped last week. So, the new iPhone 3GS units will have iBoot-359.3.2 Boot room.

The iPhone Dev team member MuscleNerd confirmed that the loss of 24kpwn exploit will make a normal jailbreak impossible for the latest iPhone 3GS units. MuscleNerd further updated that Apple s Boot Rom update occurred the first time in iPhone and iPod Touch history so far. Apparently, Apple has taken a long to fight back against jailbreak methods.

George Hotz, first iPhone hacker, came up with the 24kpwn exploit back then and recently released blackra1n jailbreak.

Those who ve already purchased iPhone 3GS last month may not worry about this update, if you care about jailbreak. It will actually take a while for Geohot and the iPhone Dev team to find an exploit for the same. At the end of the day, it s all in lines of code written for the device.
