Firefox Mobile Goes Official for N900

Firefox has finally made official the mobile version of its popular browser for Nokia's Maemo platform. The browser, codenamed "Fennec", will currently work on Nokia N900, the only phone currently running the Maemo 5 OS.

Mozilla claims that the browser is quite easy to use and optimized for the mobile usage patterns. It involves minimal typing and can be synchronized with the desktop version of Firefox as well. This means that all your bookmarks and settings can be imported to your phone, making your browsing a bit more personalized.

Major features of Firefox Mobile include:

Awesome Bar - Users can access their favourite sites in just a couple of keystrokes. You also get intelligent and personalized searching.

Weave Sync
- This is the aforementioned Sync feature using which you can sync your Firefox tabs, history, bookmarks and passwords between your desktop and mobile.

Add-ons - The major reason behind the success of the desktop avatar of Firefox are its add-ons. The mobile version too comes with add-ons support. This also makes Firefox Mobile, the first mobile browser to support add-ons. Current add-ons include popular ones like URL Fixer, TwitterBar, language translators and geo guides. There are currently more than 40 add-ons available for Firefox Mobile.

Other features include location aware browsing and support for tabs as well.
