Samsung's Star and Star 3G series of touchscreen phones have proved to be a huge success in India. The first of the Star models were the S5600 and the S5230 which were launched back in 2009. These devices were soon overshadowed by the Corby series, which again are selling like hot cakes.
Almost a year down the lane, Samsung has decided to give the Star range a facelift. We now have access to pictures of what is said to be the successor to the Star S5600 (also known as the Preston). The device, codenamed the S5620 Monte, looks quite a capable successor and packs in some decent features as well.
The Monte will come with a 3-inch touchscreen display and will (as expected) use Samsung's TouchWiz UI. There is also a chance that Samsung might pack this one with its upcoming BADA OS.
The S5620 also boasts of HSDPA and WiFi support. There's GPS as well - and for music buffs, a 3.5mm headset jack has been provided too. The internal memory is around 200 MB with support for memory expansion with the help of microSD cards. There's a basic camera with no flash.
Currently, there is no word on the release date or the pricing of this one. However, with the MWC just around the corner, we heave reasons to believe this one is will see the release pretty soon.
