MSI C-series Laptops Pack Core Chips, ATI GPUs

MSI has unveiled its new C-series budget focused laptops. The three new devices launched are - CX420, CR420 andCR720. Bearing typical laptop look the new MSI C series laptops have new Intel Core series processors and Intel HM55 chipset. MSI hasn't shared the prices of these notebooks but since they are being touted as budget laptops, we expect the prices to be competitive enough. MSI has coated these laptops with Color Film Print (CFP), making the chassis scratch-resistant.

Tagged as "entertainment" laptops, all three MSI C-series models feature Intel 'Arrandale' Core CPUs announced this year. So, it might be either of the new Core i3 and Core i5 models. Windows 7 Home Premium comes pre-loaded in all three models. Out of these three, new CX420 features ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics card with 1GB of dedicated video memory. CR420 and CR720 pack Intel Integrated GMA HD graphics.

Both CX420 and CR420 have the same features except for the graphics punch. Both these 14-inch notebooks support 1366x768 pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. On the other hand, the 17.3-inch CR720 laptop's screen supports 1600x900 resolution good enough to play 16:9 aspect ratio HD movies. Other features of all three laptops are surprisingly the same - add up to 4GB DDR3 1066MHz memory and up to 500GB SATA HDD for storage.

All three C-series models support high-speed WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR, have built-in 1.3 megapixel camera, 4-in-1 MMC reader, three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port, headphone out, two speakers and a LAN Port. In CR720, MSI has also added a sub-woofer for better audio performance.

The CX420 supports new GPU boost technology which allows switching between power consumption for required performances. It comes with the MSI ECO engine technology that offers five power modes to conserve battery juice by adjusting the screen brightness- Gaming, Movie, Presentation,Office and Turbo Battery.

MSI hasn't shared prices of these laptops and we aren't sure when they'd be made available.
