Second Samsung Android Debuts in India

Samsung has introduced its second Android based handset in India with the official launch of the i5700 Spica in the country. The Spica is the little cousin of the i7500 Galaxy which was launched earlier.

The i5700 boasts of an 800 MHz processor, a full 3.2-inch HVGA TFT touchscreen, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The i7500 on the other hand, has an AMOLED display. Like any other Android device, the Spica comes loaded with most Googleapplications you can think of and more. The applications include Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Calendar and Gtalk. For new applications, there is the Android Market as well.





Although the i7500 has more features, the i5700 is actually heavier than the former. Visually, there isn't much difference between the two. The i7500 also supports social networking with location based GPS tagging. The i5700 comes with 163MB of internal memory and comes with microSD cards support for cards up to 32GB.

On the imaging front, the 5 megapixel camera of the Galaxy has been replaced by a 3.2 megapixel one. It also comes with a 3.5mm jack and supports DivX video playback. Other tid bits include the availability of an Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor and a Digital Compass. The i5700 is on sale now and has been priced at Rs. 14,750.
