Transferring money from your account to another person's account just got easier. Nokia's new commercial pilot project called Nokia Money will let you transfer money just by using the other person's mobile number. Not just that, you'll also be able to pay utility bills as well as recharge prepaid SIM cards (SIM top-up) by using this new service.
Finnish handset maker Nokia has joined hands with YES BANK to launch this project. Nokia has said that, in the near future, consumers will also be able to pay merchants for goods and services.
The service will make its debut in Pune city and will be called Mobile Money Services by YES BANK. The Nokia Money initiative is based on Obopay's platform. In a world where most of the urban public owns a mobile phone, it will be interesting to see how successful Nokia is in its new undertaking.
