Wacom Intuos4 goes Wireless

Last year, Wacom launched the Intuos4 professional pen tablet meant for graphics professionals, artists and designers. Now, the company has gone a step ahead and introduced a wireless version of Intuos4 pen tablet. The new Intuos4 with Bluetooth connectivity is available in medium size only. Apparently, this Bluetooth version costs $399 (Rs. 19,200 approx.), $50 more than the regular USB version.

New Wacom Intuos4 gives a 30-foot Bluetooth Wireless range to a user for performing tasks using the pen tablet. This Bluetooth enabled Intuos4 charges through USB and packs a Lithium Ion battery inside it. Note that Wacom doesn't bundle Bluetooth Dongle with the tablet and hence, if your computer doesn't have Bluetooth, get a dongle. Two tiny lights on the side act as indicators - the blue light depicts the connected state while yellow/green indicate the charging state.

Medium sized Intuos4 also has snap-in graphic pen holder so that you can let your pen rest while you grab a bite. The user is offered 40 square inches of work area on this ambidextrous tablet and eight customizable keys with illuminated displays. Intuos4 Wireless Grip Pen features new proprietary Tip Sensor technology capable of sensing slightest nuance of single-gram pressure on tablet surface area. This Intuos4 flaunts the 2048 sensitivity levels absent in Intuos3.

Bluetooth Intuos4 version also comes with power saving features which puts the tablet to sleep if left unused for about 30 minutes. Wacom promises that one charge will long for 18 hours but not of continuous usage.

This Bluetooth Wireless version of Intuos4 works with all Windows version and Mac OS X 10.4.8 or above. Note that one will have to use the installation disk for dumping all the support software on the hard disk.
