The Nexus One just got it so why should cousin Droid be left behind? Motorola's Droid will very soon receive an update that will make the phone multitouch enabled. Apparently, the phone is getting an update to Android 2.1, which as you might know, supports multitouch gestures.
However, multitouch support will be available only within the browser and Google Maps from what we know. It would be really disappointing if it doesn t arrive for the image gallery as well. There is no word as to when to expect this update to trickle in although some sources say it could be as early as next week. Apart from multitouch, there doesnt seem to be any revolutionary updates being included. For example, the home screen is still the same as 2.0.1 - which means you won't see the rotating 3D grid of icons.
There will be no support for active wallpaper ala the Nexus One. However it does get the News and weather widgets from the Nexus One.
