Since its launch last month, as many as 1 million units of Samsung's first bada OS based smartphone - the Wave have been sold.
The announcement regarding the sales figures was made by Justin Hong, the project leader and architect of Bada OS in a tweet. The tweet is in Korean language and you might want to translate it should you have trouble reading it.
Apart from being Samsung's first bada OS based smartphone, the Samsung Wave also claims a lot of other firsts. For example, it is the first device to sport a Super AMOLED display, the first to support Bluetooth 3.0 and for India, it is also the first phone priced in the sub 20k category to boast of a 5 megapixel camera and 720p video recording.
The device is highly popular in Korea where it continues to sell like hot cakes. Another Samsung handset, the Android based Galaxy S, is also seeing strong sales with the device having already sold 300,000 units just 19 days post launch.
Looks like Samsung's gamble with its own home-grown OS has played off well. You might want to read our detailed take on the Samsung bada OS here. If you want a quick look at the phone, we also have Samsung Wave review here!
