NOOK App arrives for Android Phones

NOOK reader creators Barnes & Nobles have released free NOOK for Android app. This app will take Barnes & Nobles' NOOK eBook ecosystem to larger audience. All Android 1.6 version OS or higher loaded smartphones can run NOOK for Android app. 

NOOK for Android app's arrival wasn't surprising since rival Amazon had released Kindle App for Android last week. Now Barnes & Noble has brought its eBookstore with over a million eBooks. This NOOK for Android app is meant for easy-to-use ebook reading experience and has the following features:

  • Barnes & Nobles eBookstore access
  • Access to personal B&N digital library of books purchased Lend eBooks to friends
  • Customize the fonts, views - landscape, portrait and orientation lock
  • Animated or sliding page turns, navigation scroll, bookmarks
  • Syncing with other platforms to share your bookmark info
  • Support for ePub format books, "quickly becoming the industry standard



What's novel in this NOOK app is the LendMe technology that allows sharing eBooks to friends for fourteen days to read it on Barnes & Nobles software. Even NOOK app has the Bookmark sync feature that allows you to resume reading ebook from the page you left off on any platform. 

If you sign up for a new BN.com account to download the NOOK for Android App, you get three Barnes & Noble Classics Series eBooks - Dracula, Little Women and Pride & Prejudice. Also, the samples of two current bestselling eBooks would appear in the library.

Barnes & Nobles will also release NOOK for iPhone, iPad and other platforms in the coming months.
