In a very informal press conference, Epson officially unvieled the EB-450wi Ultra Short Throw Interactive projector in India. Targeted mainly towards schools, colleges, universities or even offices, this projector is capable of displaying a 97" screen from a distance of just 0.766m. Based on 3LCD technology, the EB-450wi has a native resolution of 1280x800 (WXGA), 2,500lumens brightness and a lamp life of 2,500 hours. This comes with a price tag of MRP.1,86,000 (ouch!) which is quite a lot.
What sets this projector apart from any other short throw projector is the fact that you can actually interact with the projector screen with the help of a special pen. Thats right, after installing the software on you notebook or PC, it takes about 10-20sec to calibrate the screen after which your good to go. Your projected screen magically transforms into a touch screen which is simply brilliant. Epson had a demo unit going on and it was really responsive to even the slightest gesture. The pen also features a button for right click operations.
Other features include a LAN jack for network monitoring and control, multiple connectivity options and an integrated 10W speaker.
The EB-450wi is already being sold in the US and other countries for a while now and its nice to see new technology penetrating India to better the education system. Epson have a really unique projector here that'll surely catch the attention of organizations and colleges alike.
