Search Old Tweets in Google Replay

Micro blogging website Twitter has been heavily used worldwide and billions of status updates in form of tweets have been made by millions of users. Google has announced new feature to access and search the public archive of tweets - Google Replay. Till date, Twitter search was so crippled that it was pretty much difficult to see your last month's tweet. This new archived Tweet search will help searching really old Twitter updates too!

Twitter boasts of some insane numbers like 600 tweets per second and about 50 million tweets per day. One can imagine the amount data generated over a period of month and making each and every tweet searchable is a challenge.

Currently, the Google Replay feature can search data which was up only few months back - after February 9 morning 6 AM to be specific. Google promised that soon, it well be able to check our first tweet dated even on March 21, 2006. So basically, Google would be indexing all your old Tweets and show them up in Google Replay over a period of time. How will it help you? For instance, if you wish to see what users said when the iPhone 3G was launched when it was launched, you can do it easily.

Google has already integrated real-time Twitter updates in its real-time search results. Looks like Twitter is making best of Google's search and indexing proficiency. Google Replay also offers a timeline wherein users can choose specific time, day or year (later) to hunt for respective tweets during that time.

Try out the new Replay feature by searching anything in Google Search and then clicking on 'More' on the left side panel just below 'Everything'. Choose 'Updates' to see the Twitter updates corresponding to the search term.
